Will disconnecting the battery to shut off the check engine light affect anything else?

I currently have a 2008 Impala and as the question suggests I have a check engine light on. In the past if I had this problem I would do the old unhook the battery trick but this is a much newer car than I've ever had and it's like driving a computer with an exhaust pipe. I'm worried about doing something to screw with the digital odometer if I try this, I'm not even sure it would work given how computerized it all is (I half expect there to be some failsafe to keep me from doing it). Any insight into this would be appreciated. Thanks!

1996 Dodge Caravan Dash lights have stopped working...?

I have a 96 dodge caravan and last night the dash lights for the speedometer, tachometer, and fuel gauge stopped working. The odometer, and gear lights still work though. Be sure to change your oil as it breaks down over time even when not being used, check your tires for dryrot since it has been sitting, look for any cracks in the tread or sidewall and if there is any have the tires replaced. Inspect your engine air filter to make sure no critters have set up a home in there since the vehicle has been sitting. Take it to any oil change facility and they should be able to do this for you. Last if there are any grease fittings on the suspension/ stearing have them lube them as the greese will dry out over time. Thanks again and welcome home. Finally, Chinese custom made decision and asked to pay penalty for being chosen randomly. But the freight forwarding agent I used asked me to pay that penalty. They asked me to pay 4500$. Is it fraud if my odometer was "rolled back" before I sold it?

I just sold my vehicle which had 72,000 miles on the Odometer. I didn't realize it was "Rolled Back" from 272000 miles until after selling it. I bought it from an auction as a "TMU" and had it for a year before selling it off again. I had another potential buyer who came to see it and was apparently upset that he never got the truck for the price it sold for and did a "Carfax" with the VIN and called me after I sold the vehicle to tell me I had just committed fraud....which scared the hell outa me! I did a Kelly Blue Book search for pricing of the vehicle at 272000 miles and KBB priced the vehicle out to be $500.00 more then what I sold the vehicle for. No speedo means you either lost power to the TCM or the output speed sensor is bad. Check the EATX fuse in the underhood power distribution center and if it is good replace both the input and output speed sensors with OE not aftermarket. They are far cheaper than a new transmission.

I am having a problem with my landlord. The landlord actually mailed us the lease and the lease included the comprehensive list but we were never able to mail this list back to him. 3 years later, we decide to vacate. we gave him proper notice and actually left 10 days early so that he can prepare the property for the next renters in June. 3 days prior to the end of the lease, we inspected the property with the landlord and he noted a couple of things on paper (not a comprehesive list) that he thought he would deduct from the deposit. most of the things he noted were "normal wear and tear" items (painting 3 bedrooms, dust bunnies on light globes and mis-matched light bulbs). In order to not dispute anything we signed his little paper agree to be refunded $750 out of the $1,125 deposit. This also did not include the cost of the carpet clean we paid out of our pocket. A week after the 1st inspection he emailed and said he found more things to deduct and sometime in June (after he rented the property) he said he needed to deduct more cleaning charges and other damages. The landlord seemed to have violated KRS 383.505 thru KRS 383.570 & KRS 383.580. The landlord aslo included this in his lease and I thought this would be prohibited under KRS 383.570: "Landlord shall have the right to recover from Tenant all costs over and above the security deposit retained, accruing to Landlord as a result of repairing or correcting damage to leased premises resulting from the Tenant’s occupancy, including reasonable attorney’s fees required for the collection of said costs".

yesterday I went to drive it went into reverse but seemed to jerk rather hard, but wouldn't go forward. I added transmission fluid and it would go but only seems to have second gear, also the speedometer, odometer stopped working as well as the in dash shift indicator. 150cc GY6 speed issues?

So my scooter maxes out at something around 30mph.. it use to get up to 45-50mph. i was having issues with the carb and i thought i solved it but now im having problems again. it wont even get past 30mph and it starts bucking, bogging, what have you. its not a violent jerk like it was the first time i had a problem.. it feels more like theres a limit on the speed now. Should i take the carb off again? I should also mention im having issues with the odometer/speedometer no displaying the speed.

2003 dodge ram 1500 electrical problem?

I have a 2003 dodge ram and the other day I connected the antenna cable to the back of my deck and everything was working fine. I tried to turn the deck back on and it wouldn't work at all. I then discovered that none of my electrical features worked in the truck unless the key was in and on, then everything worked. right now I cant access power locks, headlights, key less remote, and interior lights unless the key is in and turned to the on position. I have replaced two fuses ( one in the fuse box and one next to the battery). When it happened a light came on under the odometer saying "No Bus" not sure what that means. Any suggestions or other places fuses could be?

Like, I know that there are people in ALL walks of life that want to run their lives in the grey zone. But one thing that I have noticed is that poor people seem to have this reputation for being total bad*sses. Like, for example, I have spent some time in the rougher areas of town and growing up with some rougher kids. My 14 year old friend was not just into solo sex, but threesomes and orgies. My 15 year old friend was encouraged to become a drug dealer. My 16 year old friend was a prostitute in Calgary and attended some pretty wild LSD raves. I boarded in a school that was in a poorer area one year and within like a week there was like 3 parties going on, like among the same group. I know that there are people like this in poor, middle and rich class, I have just found that the roughest people seem to also be the poorest.

White screen after dropping iPod Touch 4G. Please help?

About a month ago I dropped my iPod ON the screen. (I have a rubber case for the back and no screen protector) I have dropped it many times before, from higher heights, but this time I knew it was broken. I picked it up after about 5 seconds and I slowly watched my screen go white. I them reset it to find nothing had changed. So I decided to completely restart the iPod using iTunes...no change. There is no locking or unlocking sound, but voice command does work so I CAN listen to music. At the right angle you can see a section in the screen where it is whiter (where I dropped it.) I called 1-800-APL-CARE and they had me send it to them for repair under free warranty. They only sent it back in the same condition. I called asking why and thy said that I had "water damage in the dock." But if they really inspected the iPod they would have say I had dropped it. According to them they cannot repair my iPod and all I can only use it for music via voice command. Is there anything I can do? Any suggestions at all are appreciated. I DO plan on buying a new iPod eventually though.

Transmission Problems?

I encountered a recent conflict with my 2002 Honda Odyssey during a road trip. As I was driving at a constant speed b/w 75-80 mph, at one point, my transmission odometer climbed from 2-5 very quickly; the pedals felt as if I had switched gears and shifted. Almost immediately, there was a great cloud of white smoke coming out from the hood. The white smoke had a foul stench in it, and at first, I thought something was overheated. Coolant levels seem fine. Engine oil levels were okay as well (there was no engine light on either). However, the transmission oil was literally gone and had lost its typical "pinkish" color; in place of it was a nasty, burned out odor. I do not know what happened. Later, when I re-fueled, and continued home at slower speeds (around 50-55 mph), the gasoline levels went down very, very rapidly. I went to Advanced AutoZone, and they suggested I replace a circuit sensor? in which I did. However, this still does not explain what caused the white smoke in the first place, or the possible transmission errors. Please help! Thank you.

Rolling back on odometer...?

I would leave it as it is, and just make a note of the engine change date. That way, you have a record of the engine's miles, but also the miles done by the chassis and drivetrain so you know when they need servicing too. Also, I would personally be happier buying a car where that has been done rather than it having been rolled back to 0 with a new engine.

How to keep bedbugs away?!?!?

We have been living in a apt for 8 months now and we have been infested with roaches and now our couch has bedbugs! Our bed doesn't have them but I REALLY want to keep it that way. It is up on a frame and I have put vaseline around the wheels because I heard this prevents them from climbing up onto the bed. I also heard spraying pure ammonia can help, but I have an 18 month old and don't know if thats safe. Any other suggestions to keep them out of our bed and maybe even eliminate the problem entirely? Do I have a right of refusal for an Housing Urban Development inspection?

I live in Nebraska and got a letter from my apartment complex stating that the Housing Urban Development is doing inspections and my apartment may be selected to be inspected. It seems I get this letter every other month or so. I am wondering what my rights are as far as not letting them in to my apartment. its a relatively simple task but i do recommend drawing yourself a diagram of how the belt is routed before you remove it so you don't get it off and wonder did it go like this or like this or like this ? You can have about a dozen ways it can go on but only one is correct. also make sure all the grooves are lined up or you can trash a new belt in a hurry. Make sure the auto tensioner springs back easily and its pulley isn't ******** indicating the tensioner is about to grenade soon.

Why have the ABS warning light and the air bag warning light come on in my 2 day old Camry?

After driving my new Camry away from the dealers and travelling about 50 kilometres, the ABS warning light, the air bag warning light, the hand brake warning light all started coming on and off, even when the car was stationery. Most of the dashboard instruments (engine temp, odometer, gear selected indicator, speedo) also all switched off. I believe this means I have no air bags, and only limted braking.
