Belly button piercing help! ?

I work at a water park as a lifeguard and I'm always wearing a suit under board shorts and a rash guard. I ocaaionally get wet but it's usually waist down. I may have to jump in every once and a while for an audit but it's not common. Could I just put band aids over my belly if I were to get it pierced? Because the rest of the school year I'm in water sports so this is basically my only break, summer time that is. If I cleaned it after work and morning/night I won't be risking infection would I?
