Transmission problem on a 2001 Kia Optima?

yesterday I went to drive it went into reverse but seemed to jerk rather hard, but wouldn't go forward. I added transmission fluid and it would go but only seems to have second gear, also the speedometer, odometer stopped working as well as the in dash shift indicator. Does anyone know if this may be a electronic problem or mechanical problem and how hard is it to repair?
