Electrical problems in my 2000 Jeep Cherokee?

My 2000 Jeep Cherokee, that I bought last November, has had some electrical problems since I bought it. Most of it is small stuff, like the passenger window sometimes won't roll down or up unless the driver does it,. The bigger issue that concerns me is my instrument panel. Periodically, the lights in the instrument panel will not come on. Once, all the lights in my Jeep went out while driving down the highway. Also, when my instrument panel lights are on, there is a constant smell of burning plastic or wires. Recently, the airbag and check engine come on, and my odometer displays the words "no bus" and the instrument panel completely dies. Can anyone tell me what's going on with my Jeep?
