Does anybody own a Ford Focus?

I recently bought a 2007 Ford Focus, one of the things i instantly noticed is that when i turn the lights and engine off the odometer light (mileage light behind the steering wheel) stays on for up to half an hour. I thought to myself that that dosen't sound right but according to many posts on the internet it is perfectly normal. So i was wondering if anybody else had this and why it happened?
