Can I sue a seller over a 4yr old house?

I've had my house for 4yrs now. The ceiling in my room is cracking and the compound is coming off and underneath that the sheetrock is cracked, I also notice cement and duct tape holding it together. It looked as if someone tried to hide that it was damaged. Could I sue the person that sold me this house? Or am i out of luck? I also had my house inspected, but I don't think he could of found this. since it was covered up.
