03 kawasaki 636 electrical problem...?

the speedometer recently stopped working but the tachometer still works. another thing that stopped working was the odometer, the mileage wont go up either haha. the same problem happened a while back and found out that some little electrical unit (its under the seat cowl right next to the power commander, but its about half the size as the power commander) was disconnected and when i reconnected it the mileage started rolling and the speedometer was working. now i have that problem again but i checked that little thing (i have no idea what it is) and its connedcted. so i dont know what it is. im thinking its a fuse, but im not sure, and i checked the connection in the back of the speedometer and it looks to be hooked up correctly. has anyone had this problem before? if so can you help me out please!!! thanks
